Education 

Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, PhD, holds two Masters degrees ( in Theology and in Philosophy of Religion) and a PhD in Systematic Theology and Philosophy of Religion (1994) from the Claremont Graduate University in California, USA.

He has trained Pastors and lectured for the past 24 years at Trinity Theological Seminary Legon (four years as Adjunct at the University of Ghana’s Department for the Study of Religions), and served as the Academic Dean at Trinity Theological Seminary Legon, for 9 years, before becoming the President there from September 2011 to 1st August 2018. His areas of specialization include: Ethics, Ecological Theology, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophical Theology, Systematic Theology and Church/Organizational Leadership.

He has served on the Boards of 21 organizations (12 of them being Boards and Councils of High/Higher Education). He was the Chairman of the Governing Council of Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong (2006-2014), Chairman of the Governing Council of Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Aburi (2008-2015) and a member of the Governing Council of the Presbyterian University College (2007-2013).

Rev. Prof. Mante, has been a member of the National Accreditation Board of the Republic of Ghana since 2011 where he has served on several of its committees including Accreditation Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, Institutional Visits Committee, Administration Committee, and Finance Committee. Currently he chairs the Ethics in Research Committee of the University of Ghana, a position he has held since 2013.

Rev. Prof. Mante is a member of the American Academy of Religion, British Ethics Society, Society for the Study of Theology UK, and is on the editorial board of the Trinity Journal of Church and Society.

Ecclesiastical 

Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante has been a minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana since 1981 (37 years) and once served as the Presbytery Chairperson (the equivalent of a Bishop) in the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana from 2006-2011. He has held pastoral positions in Presbyterian churches in Adum (Kumasi), Obuasi (District Pastor), Claremont (California), Pomona (California), Fontana (California), Trinity United Church (Legon), Atomic Hills Congregation (Accra), and now Faith Congregation at Shiashie in Accra.

Rev. Prof. Mante served in the ecclesiastical leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as a member of the Church’s General Assembly Council from 2006 to 2011.

He was also the President of the National Ministers’ Conference (a Conference which brings all Presbyterian Ministers together) for 7 years. In addition he was also a key member of the Church’s Committee on Ministry for 15 years, and was part of the team that revised the Church’s Liturgy Books, Constitution and Manual of Order.

Furthermore, the Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante served as the 2004 General Council International Coordinator of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches with Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland (now World Communion of Reformed Churches in Hannover, Germany), and has also served as an Executive Committee member of the Christian Council of Ghana since 2011.

International Exposure

Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante has visited and had exposure in several other countries in Africa, Europe and the Americas.
